Psychological Safety

For investment teams to make consistently good choices, members need to be able to say what they are really thinking. Human psychology can make this hard. We can all sometimes struggle to admit that we don’t understand something and don’t want to look uniformed or wrong in front of others. This can lead to avoidable mistakes and missed opportunities. This workshop examines the science of psychological safety and then undertakes some simple but powerful exercises to help your team understand where and how it can improve it.

Inclusion and performance

Whilst inclusion can bring many benefits to decision-making, it also brings challenges. For example, how can a group with a wide spread of knowledge and experience best facilitate broad and effective participation? This session will help your team understand and effectively navigate the challenges so that they can reap the multiple benefits of inclusion.

Risk Typing

We all have different attitudes to risk. This impacts how we make decisions alone and when in groups. This session uses a powerful and informative psychometric tool that will help each team member understand how they think about risk and how it can influence their behaviour. As well as helping investors understand their own position, it will show the team's aggregate attitude to risk and highlight the potential implications for decision-making.    

Cognitive Diversity

Everyone recognises that cognitive diversity can be valuable and that it has the potential to improve decision-making. But there are important questions – what kind of cognitive diversity does your team need, how does it relate to demographic diversity and what sort of team culture will allow it to flourish? This session examines the evidence and will help you think about how to best leverage your current cognitive diversity as well as think about other issues, such as recruitment.
